Study tour
From past to present: the tour will present the development and changes of Warsaw, since its reconstruction after World War 2 to the contemporary developments.
We will start from the legacy of the socialist era in Warsaw. You will have a chance to see the city structure and its housing areas. We will discuss the transition in land and housing, its influences on character of urban areas, changes in the planning system and challenges for urban sustainability planning.
The tour will present the example of the restructuring of the large industrial complexes and modern 21st century glass skyscrapers in the business district of Warsaw. We will see the boulevards of the Vistula River, the modern science and housing districts and the area on the right (east) bank of the Vistula river included into the Urban Regeneration Program for Warsaw.
After the tour by bus we are pleased to be invited to the Municipal Office of Town Planning and Development Strategy located in the city centre in the Palace of Culture and Science.
After the meeting we will have the opportunity to visit the terrace located on the 30th floor of the Palace of Culture and Science to enjoy the panoramic views of the city.
We will meet on Sunday at 10:00 in front of the main entrance to the WUT Main Building. The tour ends in the city centre at the Palace of Science and Culture (Address: Plac Defilad 1). The Study Tour is free for all participants, but it requires that you register for the event.
